I always start my day with it as it wakes me up and sets me up for my day. 

I also love plunging in after training as it helps me cool down and settle down my nervous system. 

It helps tremendously with lowering inflammation, improving recovery, improving heart rate variability, and even improving mood.

Why is post workout nutrition so important? 🤔 

When you are working out, you are damaging muscle fibers and the stress from the workout increases your cortisol. 

Now, damaging muscle fibers and cortisol isn’t a bad thing - we just want to stop it post workout.

The best way to do it, is with a fast digesting protein and fast digesting carbohydrate. 

I use Vegan Power Pro along with Ignition post workout.

I like Vegan Power Pro because I don’t tolerate dairy well at all and not only is it a quality plant based protein - it also has a superfood complex and digest enzymes as well. 🌱 

I pair it with Ignition because it is a rapid digesting carbohydrate that will spike insulin post workout. 

Spiking insulin post workout will help blunt the cortisol response and drive the amino acids and carbohydrates to the muscles to repair and recover them. 

I actually notice that I don’t feel so damn spent after training because this shake replenishes glycogen so rapidly and I feel like I’m ready to go! 

For those that do tolerate dairy, @1stphorm also makes Phormula-1 which comes in a bunch of delicious flavors to pair with Ignition post workout. 🐮

What a good time stepping on the USA Worlds Stage for the first time. It wasn’t my absolute best performance but I gave it my all.

Back to the drawing board to work on some areas that need attention. Can’t wait to compete again next year!

    Let’s talk about protein intake… 🥩 I like Let’s talk about protein intake… 🥩 

I like to get at least 1g per lb of lean body weight. 

My stats: 200lbs & 10% Body Fat

📝 To calculate this: 

200lbs x .10% body fat = 20

200lbs - 20 = 180g of protein. 

I try to get at least 180g of protein daily. 

🐓 My favorite sources are: chicken thighs, beef, whole eggs, goat cheese, collagen, and Vegan Power Pro by @1stphorm. 

I typically spread out my protein into 3 solid meals and supplement with a protein or collagen shake. 

🥛Other great sources of dairy protein are: Greek yogurt, whey protein, and milk. 

I do avoid dairy as I don’t tolerate it well but if you do - have at it!

Controlling the tempo of an exercise puts more time under tension on the muscle. 

This can translate to a better muscle mind connection, strength, and hypertrophy. 

Try it out sometime. 

Count the seconds as you are lowering the weight. 

You’ll learn that is much more difficult but it will make you strong!
