Gymnastics & Conditioning Today we had 2 quick b Gymnastics & Conditioning 

Today we had 2 quick but effective workouts. The first one was:

EMOM for 5 Rounds 
(Every Minute On The Minute)

4 Bar Muscle Ups 

My muscle ups are feeling smoother and smoother, the more I do them. This workout was to focus on technique and build some muscular endurance with the movement. We did 5 total rounds. 

- Then rest 5 minutes -

Workout 2:

Every 3 Minutes for 3 Rounds 

15cal on the Bike
8 Ring Dips
 (It was optional to scale up the workout and do a ring muscle up into the dips. I chose that.)

Overall both workouts were quick but they were fun. 🙌🏻 @crossfitbradenton

2014 ➡️ 2021 In 2014 I thought aesthetics was 2014 ➡️ 2021

In 2014 I thought aesthetics was everything and being lean was the most important thing. I didn’t care about strength at all. My focus was to have a 6 pack and be lean. 

Since 2014, I learned a lot over the years. I realized you can gain strength and size while staying on the leaner end. The metabolism operates in both ways. 

When you restrict calories and diet, the metabolism adapts. When you are in a gaining phase and increase calories, the metabolism adapts. 

Back in 2014, I was stuck holding my calories consist at a specific intake. It kept me lean, but it was never enough to progress in my training or gain muscle. 

2015 was when I really learned how to dial in my nutrition(caloric balance) and how to build strength and size. It was a fun journey focusing on getting stronger each week opposed to just looking the same with no progress. 

Now that I joined CrossFit - staying lean just happens naturally since the metabolic demands are through the roof. It’s been really fun training to perform and be challenged in a way like no other.

Today’s workout had muscle ups. They are definitely one of my favorite movements. 

They have come a long way since I first started doing them. Proper technique is crucial in order to get above the bar.

2020 was a pretty special year. ⁣ ⁣ I know a l 2020 was a pretty special year. ⁣

I know a lot of people say 2020 was the worst year yet but for me I have to say it’s been one of the best. ⁣
⁣
I learned a lot during 2020. ⁣
⁣
It gave me a lot of time to focus on myself and improve.⁣
⁣
I realized what was important in life and what was not important. ⁣
⁣
I started CrossFit and it gave me a whole new perspective on what true fitness is. ⁣
⁣
I changed my focus on training to performance instead of for a specific body composition. ⁣
⁣
I learned how to have a better overall balance of life. 

And I met some really amazing people too. ⁣
 ⁣
2020 was pretty good if you ask me. ⁣
⁣
I’m super grateful for last year. ⁣
⁣
Also one more thing I want to share... I got a DM yesterday with someone asking this question. “What’s your most valuable piece of advice for going into 2021?”⁣

My response: Give it your all without having to ask yourself “Did I try hard enough?”
⁣
We all have the ability to achieve any goal we want as long as we put in the work. ⁣

It’s been pretty fun to train for performance, o It’s been pretty fun to train for performance, opposed to training to look a certain way. 

Before I started CrossFit - strength training and bodybuilding was what I did. 

The goal was to always look a certain way and to stay lean. I did gain a lot of strength but I do feel like I could of been even stronger if I hadn’t restricted calories, since I was so focused on the looks of my physique. 

Since I’ve started CrossFit (June 2020) - my entire perspective on working out is completely different. 

I no longer train to look a certain way. I train to be the best I can be. 

I eat to fuel my body and supply the calories for my metabolic demands. 

It’s really amazing what your body can do when you have your nutrition dialed in. 

As a result - my body stays lean without me fully focusing on that as the goal and I’m the strongest and fastest I’ve ever been. 

CrossFit has been once of the best things that has happened to me. I love it and can’t get enough. #iam1stphorm #crossfit #physique #transformationtuesday #abs #shredded #performance

EMOM Deadlift 💀

How it works is at the start of every minute I had to do 5 deadlifts. Then start chipping away at the 50 wall ball, 50 box jump overs, and 50 wall balls with the remaining seconds of that minute. Once that minute was up - back to the deadlifts. 

The lower back pump was ridiculous. It was also my first time ever using a 30lbs ball for the wall balls. It was a challenge but I love me a challenge. 

It was awesome to train at @driving_force_crossfit today! My first time at another CrossFit box besides my home box. Everyone was super nice and welcoming! #crossfit #workoutoftheday #ouch

Words can’t explain how much fun I had. Being together with the @crossfitbradenton fam at the @battleatthebeach5 was something special. 

We all pushed ourselves to be our best. If it wasn’t our turn to compete - we were cheering for our squad! 👏🏼 

I drank the kool-aid earlier this year. But now - I just got bit by the competition bug. I absolutely loved it.
